Parcel bomb expert, gang members held in AP

Hyderabad, Aug 10 (UNI) The city Task Force police today arrested a notorious criminal and parcel bomb expert, along with three of his gang members and seized firearms from them.

Addressing the press here, city Police Commissioner Balwinder Singh said police arrested P Govardhan Reddy, who was involved in 65 cases, including eight murders, extortions, kidnapping for ransom, arsons and blasts.

Stating that Govardhan Reddy was also one of the accused in the TDP MLA Paritala Ravindra murder case and the Chief of Revolutionary Patriotic Tigers (RPT), the police commissioner said more than ten extortion cases were registered against him in Karnataka.

One 9mm pistol with two magazines and 30 live rounds, one .38 revolver with one live round, one 7.65 mm revolver with 20 live rounds and explosive substances were seized from their possession.

On a tip-off, police arrested the notorious gang which was planning to target high profile people for extortion in the city.

Mr Singh said the arrested gang leader has confessed that he had formed a ten-member gang to commit dacoities, murders, kidnappings and extortions. A hunt was on to nab the other gang members.
