Mother kills daughter for demanding schooling

Jodhpur, Aug 10 (UNI) In a bizarre incident, a mother strangled her daughter to death as the latter insisted on continuing her studies against the mother's wish.

The incident was reported at Udaisar village under Balesar police station in Jodhpur district.

The body of 12-year-old Bhusa was found hanging in a room in her house on August 5. The police intially suspected that it was a case of suicide. But detailed investigation unearthed the real story.

Jodhpur SP (Rural) SK Nazari said the girl got promoted to the fifth class and she wanted to continue her studies. But her mother Dapu Devi had a different idea. She wanted that Bhusa discontinue her schooling and help her in farm and house hold activites. But the young girl insisted on carrying on her education. This infuriated Dapu Devi and she strangled her to death.

After the death of Bhusa, in order to make it a case of suicide she hanged her to the ceiling of the house. The police booked a case of murder and arrested Dapu Devi.
