Minister admits to irregularities in teacher recruitment

Gulbarga, Aug 10 (UNI) Admitting that some errors had taken place in recruitment of teachers, Karnataka Primary and Secondary Education Minister Basavaraj S Horatti today said 12 ineligible candidates were recruited for teacher posts in Gulbarga division without verifying their documents.

Addressing a press conference here, he said ''the government, keeping this in mind, has decided to make ''sindutva'' certificate mandatory for the candidates to avoid irregularities.'' An enquiry had been ordered to identify how many such ineligible candidates had been recruited in the state.

He said the state government had decided to hold this year's ''Teacher's Day'' celebration here on September 5, in which Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy would participate.

The Minister said the Chief Minister would give away Best Teacher Awards to 30 teachers.

He said the government had decided to transfer the education co-ordinators (school inspectors), who had completed nine years continue service in a particular place.

He regretted that the education co-ordinators were showing utter dereliction of duty.

The Minister warned the Kannada Medium Schools, who were actually teaching in English medium.
