Orissa: Maoist kidnap three, release girl

Sambalpur, Aug 10: The Maoists operating in Sambalpur district have kidnapped three persons from Talab and Kechhubila villages under Kisinda police station, nearly 60 km from here yesterday.

The armed Maoists also kidnapped a girl along with the three persons, but later released her, police today said.

The Maoists also assaulted some villagers and threatened them with dire consequences if they informed the police about the incident.

The district police were clueless about the names of the villagers kidnapped by the Maoists and maintained that the Maoists have kidnapped the villagers suspecting them as police informer.

Meanwhile, the police during a combing operation, have arrested two hardcore Maoists from Kisinda and Rairakhol area but refused to divulge the details of the arrest.
