LAEF man arrested in Shillong
Shillong, Aug 10 (UNI) One Liberation Achik Elite Force (LAEF) cadre involved in an arms deal in Nagaland was arrested here, a delayed report said today.
The LAEF cadre is identified as Jackius A Sangma of Puksora village in Garo Hills. Mr Sangma, who was a close associate of LAEF chairman Peter Marak, had collected Rs 1 lakh from a person at Williamanagar in Garo Hills District and taken the money to Dimapur for purchasing arms.
At Dimapur Mr Sangma met Mr Marak who made a deal for purchase of an AK-47 and an AK-56 rifles with Naga Arms dealer, the report said.
The police report also said Mr Marak introduced Mr Sangma to a self-styled captain of NSCN(IM). He was asked to take the captain to Garo Hills to give tips on making improvised explosive devices.
Meanwhile, the police on Thursday picked up a couple from Mawlai near here for allegedly leading four HNLC cadres to the house of HS Shylla, Chief Executive member of KHADC for assasinating him. The accused were indentified as Tom Jones Rynjah and his wife Velvet Rose Jana.
