Kidnapped boy rescued in hours

Chennai, Aug 10 (UNI) The city police rescued a six-year-old boy within hours of his abduction for ransom, near Velacherry, late last night.

Police said Razad, studying in a matriculation school at Choolaimedu, went to attend tution last evening and did not return home.

Around 2030 hrs, his father Sadiq a builder by profession, received a call of his son's kidnaping and a ransom demand of Rs four lakh for his release.

On a complaint from Sadiq, a special police team traced the call to Velachery and arrested the builder's driver Murugan and rescued the boy. The drsiver was later remanded to police custody.

Chennai City Police Commissioner G Nanjil Kumaran congratulated the police team for rescuing the boy within hours of his abduction.
