Govt will take action against AIMIM MLAs: Minister

Hyderabad, Aug 10 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Home Minister K Jana Reddy today said the government would take stern action against the AIMIM MLAs, who attacked Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen at Press Club in the city yesterday.

Receiving a memorandum from the Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists and other journalists association, urging the Minister to take action on the AIMIM MLAs, Mr Reddy said the police were investigating the case and appropriate action would be taken against the three MLAs.

Earlier, the Unions organised a procession from Basheerbagh Press Club to Ambedkar statue, demanding the police to register attempt to murder cases against the assailants.

They also burnt the AIMIM MLAs in effigies.

Meanwhile, state Information and Public Relations Minister A Ramanarayana Reddy visited the Press Club where Ms Nasreen was attacked.

He said the government would take steps to prevent such attacks on the Press Club premises in future.
