Govt sanction Rs two crore to Kodagu to develop hybrid cows

Madikeri, Aug 10 (UNI) The state government has sanctioned Rs two crore to Kodagu district under Vidharbha-type package to develop hybrid cows at Madalapur near Kudige.

The new centre would produce hybrid cows with a milk yield of more than 12 liters. Semen would also be collected twice in a week for artificial insemination and supplied throughout the nation to increase its population. Semen extracted once would be sufficient to produce 600 calves, officials said.

Artificial insemination would be free of cost now in all the rural areas under the package. The officials had begun village visits to perform artificial insemination from this month.
