New Delhi, Aug 10 (UNI) With the migrating population increasing in Delhi, there is a requirement for enhanced healthcare facilities in the national capital, Lt Governor Tejendra Khanna said today.

''Coordinated efforts with the NGOs as well as governmental agencies would get positive results in awakening the community on important issues like healthcare, prevention, education, and sanitation,'' Mr Khanna, President of Delhi State Branch of Indian Red Cross Society, said after receiving a well-equipped Ambulance here.

Mr Khanna exhorted people to come forward and contribute to the Society's endeavours.

''When people are approached and made aware of noble causes, they almost always, extend a helping hand to promote the cause,'' he observed.

The Lt Governor said the ambulance would form part of St John Ambulance fleet. ''This ambulance would benefit the people of East Delhi where Delhi Red Cross is already running a modern well-equipped, state-of-art 100-bed hospital in Seelampur,'' he added.

Mr Khanna asked the DRC to gear up for the 2010 Common Wealth Games and make efforts to draw more and more people under the umbrella of the Society.
