Ceasefire agreement with NSCN not extended to Arunachal:Gamlin
Itanagar, Aug 10 (UNI): The ceasefire agreement between the Union Government and both factions of the NSCN has been operational only in Nagaland and not in Arunachal Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Jarbom Gamlin said today.
While supporting extension of ceasefire agreement with NSCN (IM) and NSCN (K), Mr Gamlin urged upon both the groups to follow ceasefire ground rules in Arunachal Pradesh, particularly in Tirap and Changlang districts.
Clearing the misgiving on the issue that the ceasefire had been extended to Tirap and Changlang districts of the state, the Home minister said the truce between New Delhi and the NSCN factions was restricted only in the territorial boundary of Nagaland.
The ceasefire which had expired on July 31 was extended for an indefinite period to facilitate an amicable solution to the contentious Naga issue.
