Hyderabad, Aug 10 (UNI) BJP State President Bandaru Dattatreya today demanded registration of attempt-to-murder cases under section 307 against the All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Legislature party leader Akbaruddin Owasi for ''publicly threatening to kill'' Bangladesh writer Taslima Nasreen.

Addressing a press conference here, he alleged that the government was showing ''lenient'' attitude towards those who attacked Taslima in press club yesterday.

He said the AIMIM legislators' attack on Taslima Nasreen, amounted to attack on democracy and Constitution. He alleged that the MIM legislators had no faith in the Constitution.

He also demanded the disqualification of the AIMIM MLAs for perpetrating the attack. He appreciated the efforts of the journalists and photographers who protected Taslima from the attack.

He claimed that the AIMIM legislators had resorted to attack as they were ''losing their base'' in the old city because of their ''failure'' to solve the problems of the people there.
