Works on Rajkumar Memorial to begin within next 15 days

Bangalore, Aug 9 (UNI) Karnataka Minister for Kannada and Culture H S Mahadevaprasad today said that the works on setting up of a memorial in the name of Kannada matinee idol and Dadasab Palke awardee late Rajkumar would begin within 15 days.

Talking to newsmen here, he said that the memorial would be constructed at a cost of Rs 10 Crore in the Kanteerava Studio, he added.

He said that the state government had already released Rs three crore to the Rajkumar Memorial Trust to take up the works at the studio where his Samadhi is also located.

He said that a nine-member committee set up for building the memorial held its first meeting and took decisions on development of the memorial as a national cultural centre in the coming 18 months.

The Trust aims to build a museum, library, yoga centre and an auditorium, he added.

He said the government had sanctioned 2.5 acres of land at the studio the memorial to be completed in the next 18 months.
