THRO demands pro-people police in Tripura

Agartala, Aug 09 (UNI) The Tripura Human Rights Organisation (THRO) today expressed serious concern over misuse of civil rights by police in the state.

The THRO in a memorandum to the Director General of Police had alleged that people were facing problems while registering FIR and often fell victims to their atrocities.

Demanding pro-people police in the state, the THRO urged the police to co-operate with people.

The THRO also pointed out that police should take the responsibility to educate the people about civil and human rights.

Besides, they demanded exemplary punishment of SDPO Amarjyoti Debbarmma for allegedly torturing a prisoner.
