Taslima Nasreen injured by AIMIM activists
Hyderabad, Aug 9: Noted Bangladesh writer Taslima Nasreen was injured by angry activists of the All India Majilis-E-Itihadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) who attacked her here today for allegedly hurting the sentiments of Muslims through her writings. Tense situation prevailed in Somajiguda area of the city as the activists, led by MLA Ahamad Pasha Quadri, barged into the Press Club and raised slogans against the writer before attacking her, police sources said.
The activists also staged a demonstration against her visit to the land of Qutub Shahis and her writings.
The writer had incurred the wrath of fundamentalists after she openly expressed her thoughts on the issues of religion, feminism, and sexuality, which are not often expressed in open among the traditional Muslim Society of Bangladesh.
