Kerala: Suji Athira wins state photography award-2007

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 9: Suji Athira has won the Kerala State Photography Award-2007, instituted by the state government.

While Winston Charles won the second prize, K R Satheesan bagged the third prize, a release said here yesterday.

A three-member committee with Hindu senior photographer C Ratheesh as its chairman and Tourism India magazine managing editor and photographer K V Ravisanker and Information and Public Relations Department former chief photographer V P Sasidharan Nair as members and Information and Public Relations Department chief photographer N V Joy as member secretary selected the winners from 401 entries, it said and added that the theme of the competition was ''men and nature.'' The winner would get a cash prize of Rs 10,001, while the second and third places would receive Rs 5,001 and Rs 3,001, besides a plaque and a certificate.

The awards would be given on August 19 at a function to be held in Thrissur, it added.
