SR to run specials during ''Onam''

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 9 (UNI) The Southern Railway will run two pair of special trains between Thiruvananthapuram and Chennai Central to clear the extra rush of passengers during the ''Onam'' festival from August 15.

The special train would depart Thiruvananthapuram at 2230 hrs and arrive at Chennai Central at 1430 hrs the next day, while on its return direction the train would leave Chennai Central at 1545 hrs and reach Thiruvananthapuram at 0700 hrs the next day, an SR release said here.

The other Thiruvananthapuram-Chennai Central special would leave Thiruvananthapuram at 2230 hrs and reach Chennai Central at 1530 hrs the next day.

The special trains would operate eight days from August 15 to August 26, it said.

It would also run a special train between Nagercoil and Chennai Egmore to clear the extra rush of passengers in the sector.

According to the schedule, the train would leave Egmore at 1900 hrs on August 14 and 21, while on its return trip the train would depart Nagercoil at 1330 hrs on August 15 and 22, it added.
