SP MP Atiq Ahmad's property attached

Allahabad, Aug 9 (UNI) Controversial Samajwadi Party MP Atiq Ahmad's property was attached here this afternoon on the direction of SP City Jugal Kishore.

Atiq and his brother Ashraf are wanted in connection with the assassination of BSP MLA Raju Pal in 2005 and the court had already declared the two absconders.

The police team reached Atiq's residence/office in Chakia area around 1300 hrs and attached his property.

Later talking to newspersons, the SP City said nearly 28 properties of the controversial politician were to be attached and action against several of them would follow soon.

The Special Operation Group (SOG) of Uttar Pradesh Police on Tuesday night had in an encounter gunned down a wanted sharp-shooter Tausif Ali, who allegedly owed allegiance to Atiq Ahmad.

The slain criminal was carrying a booty of Rs 30,000 on his head and was wanted in UP, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. He was wanted in connection with the abduction of Umesh Pal, an eye witness to the Raju Pal's Killing.
