South-West monsoon revives in Kerala
Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 9 (UNI) The South-West monsoon has been active over Kerala and rain occurred in many places in Lakshadweep, local weather office said here today.
Heavy rainfall of eight cm was reported from Mananthawady followed by seven cm each from CIAL Kochi and Munnar.
The other chief amount of rainfall reported in cm were Perumbavoor six, Kasaragod, Kozhikode, Parambikulam and Thalassery five each, Karipur airport, Irrikkur, Aluva, Kozha, and Kunnamkulam four each, it said.
Rain will occur in most places in the state and at many places in the Union Territory during the next 24 hours.
Isolated heavy rainfall is likely to occur in the state, it said and cautioned strong onshore wind from Westerly direction, speed occasionally reaching 45-55 kmph, is likely to occur over off Kerala coast and over Lakshadweep during the next 48 hours, the office added.
