Resurrection of Srikrishna report to counter wakf: BJP

Mumbai, Aug 9 (UNI) The BJP today alleged that the resurrection of the Srikrishna Commission report was deliberately to counter the wakf controversy which has tarnished the image of the Congress.

Maharashtra BJP spokesman Madhav Bhandari told reporters that the Shiv Sena-BJP government had rejected the same and, now, the Congress-NCP government should first clarify its stand on the issue.

''Srikrishna Commission report is a sensitive issue and there should be no politics over it,'' he said.

He felt the Congress's image was completely tarnished due to the wakf controversy and the minority community was drifting away from the party. In order to resurrect its image, the Srikrishna Commission report has been broached up, he added. He said the demand of resurrecting the report has nothing to do with the punishment being given to the accused in the bomb blast case.
