Rebels start fresh recruit campaign in Tripura

Agartala, Aug 9 (UNI) All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) has launched a fresh campaign to malign the Tripura government and incite the tribal youth against the establishments.

Intelligence officials here today said the insurgent group has been showing and distributing a two-hour long documentary on CDs to lure the youth to join the underground outift.

The government, aware of the latest method of the ATTF, had asked the security forces to be extra alert against the nefarious act.

Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and the security forces have already condemned such propaganda against the democratic government.

The film produced by ATTF's publicity wing TPDF in Kakborok language (dialect of Tripura tribals) is meant to raise fund and incite the youth, official sources said.

They said the rebels were doing this out of frustration as the government's stepped up action against the underground outfit was diminishing its resources, particularly funds.

According to records, more than 800 militants with 200 arms had surrendered before the security forces this year.

Last year, Tripura police had revealed that the NLFT separatists used woman cadres as consorts and making pornographic films to raise money to fund their terror campaigns. The militant leaders had forced many woman cadres and male recruits into acting in pornographic films shot in the jungles, which were sold in various parts of India and other adjoining South Asian countries to raise funds.
