Punjab DGP calls for attaching properties of POs

Chandigarh, Aug 9 (UNI) Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) N P S Aulakh today issued directions to the district police chiefs to initiate all legal and other measures, including attachment of properties of Proclaimed Offenders (POs).

Presiding over a monthly meeting to review the performance report of the SSPs here today, the DGP said that the long list of POs in each district did not reflect well on the working of police department. It was imperative for all SSPs to personally monitor the drive against POs and arrest them.

He said that a time bound drive should be launched to bring all POs in the legal net and initiate proceeding to attach their properties.

The DGP also urged the field officers to launch a special campaign against the practice of illegal lotteries, gambling and satta etc. He also asked the officers to tackle all economic crimes by taking professional advise from officials of relevant departments.

He also issued directions to launch a special campaign against smuggling of narcotics and its illegal marketing network in state.

He appreciated the field officers for making significant recoveries of various psychotropic substances besides nabbing the drug peddlers.

He also urged the officers to check the sale of banned drugs in medical stores by roping in the officers of health department and drug inspectors. He asked the SSPs to personally monitor all cases pending in the various courts and warned that laxity on their part would not be tolerated.

He directed the IGs/Zonal and DIGs/Ranges to personally check the record of police stations and ensure the proper disposal of case properties wherever it was required as per the prescribed norms.
