Over 2,000 BJP workers detained
Pune, Aug 9 (UNI) Around 2,000 Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers, led by Eknath Khadse, were detained today while carrying out an agitation near the district collectorate.
The BJP workers were protesting against ''various scams'', farmers' suicides and wakf land dealing.
BJP corporator and leader of Opposition in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Vikas Matkari, while addressing the BJP workers, alleged that the state Government had failed on all fronts and is responsible for the rising number of farmers suicides in Maharashtra.
Mr Matkari demanded that Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh should step down.
