One commit suicide another crushed to death in Kashmir
Srinagar, Aug 9 (UNI) One person committed suicide while another was crushed to death by a speedy vehicle in the Kashmir valley overnight.
A police spokesman said 20-year-old Tawseef Ahmad Bhat consumed some poisonous substance in his home at Hardu in district of Anantnag last night.
He was immediately shifted to hospital but died there.
According to official figures 62 people committed suicide in 2006 while the figure has shot up dramatically to 75 for the first six months of the current year.
As many as 50 security force personnel, engaged in counter- insurgency operations, have committed suicide in Jammu and Kashmir during the last three years.
About a dozen security force personnel were killed by their colleagues in the camps during the same period. Many of these were awarded death sentence by the Army courts for killing their colleagues.
Police spokesman said a speedy vehicle hit and killed one Mohammad Ashraf Dar at Hygam in North Kashmir district of Baramulla.
