New scheme to attract more minority girl students

Agartala, Aug 9 (UNI) The CPI (M) led Left Front government in Tripura has launched a special scheme for minority girl students.

As per the new scheme, the minority girl students will get cash for buying uniforms.

The government will allocate Rs 300 per student each year for girl students from class one to eight for school uniform and Rs 500 for class IX to XII.

Though the education department had issued a notification to this effect in June last, but the campaign was stepped up recently to get more girl students into the schools.

The government also instructed all the school heads to send classwise numbers of religious minority girl students in their institution.

Chief Minister Manik Sarkar said the government was making efforts to spread education to all levels.

Meanwhile, Education Minister Keshab Majumder urged the minority girls to join in large number for achieving a greater literacy rate.
