New GOC takes over 4 Corps command
Guwahati, Aug 9 (UNI) Lieutenant General Baljit Singh Jaswal today took over the command of the Tezpur-based Gajraj Corps from outgoing General Officer Commanding RK Chhabra at the Tezpur Army base.
The new General Officer was commissioned into 3 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles battalion in December 1970, and during his career, Lt Gen Jaswal held various instructional staff and command appointments, including in North and Northeastern parts of the country, defence sources said.
He was also posted as Brigadier (Administration) of the Gajraj Corps.
Assam and Arunachal Pradesh are under command of Gajraj Corps.
Outgoing GOC Lt Gen Chhabra has been posted as chief of staff Southern Command of the Indian Army.
