Mob torches state-run bus after murder of chowkidar

Hisar, Aug 9 (UNI) A mob, agitated over murder of a chowkidar in a market in Barwala in the district, torched a Haryana Roadways today.

The chowkidar, Telu Ram, was allegedlly strangulated by a gang of robbers when he raised an alarm as they tried to steal tyres from a shop here last night. Telu Ram died on the spot.

The thieves had stolen tyres worth four lakhs from another shop in the area recently.

The shopkeepers, agitated over deteriorating security conditions in the area, came on the main Hisar-Chandigarh road in the morning and blocked the road.

IG Y.P.Singal and SP Sri Kant Jadhav reached the spot.

Mr. Jadhav said, ''When the police was busy pacifying the irate mob, some miscreants torched the Haryana Roadays bus." The police had to resort to mild cane charge to remove the crowd from the road.

People in Barwala also observed a half-day bandh and markets remained closed in the morning to protest against the murder.
