Mill workers hold demo

Puducherry, Aug 9 (UNI) The Anglo-French Textile Mills All Trade Union Protection Committee today staged a day-long dharna before the new mill in support of their demands.

Led by AITUC Leader V S Abishegam, the committee demanded the provision of Central Dearness Allowance to the workers, constitution of a high-level committee to go into the affairs of the mill as announced by the Chief Minister earlier and an enquiry into the alleged corruption in the affairs of the mill among others.

The functioning of the first shift which began at 0700 hrs came to an abrupt halt as workers joined the dharna.
