MCD refutes report of locking two persons in Trilok Puri bakery

New Delhi, Aug 9 (UNI) Refuting media reports of the alleged locking of two persons inside a bakery in Trilok Puri by its sealing squads, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi today alleged that the owner of the bakery had dramatised the whole episode by sending his workmen inside after the sealing operation.

In a statement issued here, the MCD, refuting the report carried by a news channel, said, ''MCD's staff had carried out the sealing operation yesterday with the assistance of the Police force comprising 20 personnel.'' ''During the sealing, the bakery owner was given sufficient time to remove his men and material from the premises. Accordingly, he had taken out all workers and premises was checked alongwith police official and found that there was no person inside the premises. The owner had not pointed out either to MCD officials or Police officials that his workmen were there inside.'' The MCD said on receipt of the information in the evening that two workmen of bakery unit were sealed inside, MCD's staff rushed to the spot and found that these two men were taken out by the Police by 1900 hours.

''SHO of Trilok Puri, Mr Gautam also confirmed that the persons were taken out from opening in the roof by 7.00 p.m. The Police officials were shown the way to rescue the persons from opening in the roof for which no seal was required to be disturbed. It was obvious that these men had entered the premises from the same route and they were not sealed inside during the operation,'' MCD said.

Senior MCD officers who visited the site this morning found that each and every seal was intact and that there is a passage through which one could enter inside the bakery through the roof of the adjoining property. One wooden and one iron staircase was found at the premises at the top of the adjoining house.

''MCD, alongwith police officials, reached the same place inside the bakery where two workmen were shown. It is important to notice that the official could enter the premises without breaking any seal.'' It is thus clear that the owner had framed the episode by entering his two workmen inside the premises to malign,'' the statement added.
