LeT facing shortage of cadres, money
Jammu, Aug 9 (UNI) After Hizb-ul Mujahideen (HM), now Pakistan-based terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), whose many commanders were eliminated in recent encounters, was facing shortage of cadres, weapons and money in Jammu and Kashmir, army sources said here.
Intelligence wing of Army said it intercepted the messages of several top commanders of the outfit active in both the provinces of the state and found that they are getting helpless and frustrated due to acute shortage of men, money and material.
The Pakistan-based terrorist outfit was passing through a worse stage as large number of Lashkar militants, including several top commanders in Jammu as well as Kashmir valley were killed and their several bids of mass destruction were foiled by security forces during past couple of months, Army sources said.
''The top LeT commanders, who are active at high reaches, calling to their bosses in Pakistani-occupied Kashmir (PoK) for money, weapons and ammunition,'' an intelligence officer of Rashtriya Rifles (RR) said.
The Army, during the past two months intercepted several conversations of militants with their bosses in PoK. They were passing through huge crisis and needed money, cadres, arms and ammunition to sustain militancy in the state, he added.
Intelligence wing of Army intercepted important conversation between the LeT chief of operations in India and a hardcore Pakistan militant, appointed as new divisional commander of LeT after killing of Abu Umair for entire Doda region. The new commander was frustrated and made desperate calls for supplies of weapons, an intelligence officer revealed.
''The killing of Abu Umair was a major setback for LeT and it is very crucial time for security forces too. We have to maintain pressure on them,'' an officer said claiming that HM is almost wiped out from Doda region.
The intelligence wing of Army had also intercepted the conversation between Hizb-ul Mujahideen commanders, active in Poonch and Rajouri districts and their bosses last year, sources added.
