Lensmen injured in scuffle with the CM's security

Jamshedpur, Aug 9 (UNI) Three lensmen were injured, one of them seriously, when Chief Minister Madhu Koda's security personnel allegedly assaulted them during the filling of nomination papers by UPA candidate Suman Mahto for Jharkhand byelection on August 29, at the deputy commisioner's office here today.

Police said the camerman of a local Hindi video magazine, Manpreet Singh was reported to have been hit in his belly with the butt of the riffle by one of the security guards when Mr Koda was about to enter the chamber of the DC along with Ms Mahto.

Two photographers of the local Hindi dailies were also injured in the scuffle.

Singh was immediately rushed to nearby MGM hospital. Mr Koda visited and asked, the injured photographer to be shifted to Tata Main Hospital here for better treatment.

Terming the whole incident as very 'unfortunate', Mr Koda apologised and assured the agitated scribes that his security men would remain careful in future.

Meawhile,the Press Club of Jamshedpur has condemned the assault on the photo scribes and expressed conern over the attack on the media persons.
