JMM, JVM, SP file nomination for Lok Sabha bypoll
Jamshedpur, Aug 9 (UNI) Altogether eight candidates, including the UPA-backed Jharkhand Mukti Morcha(JMM) candidate Suman Mahto, today filed nomination papers for the August 29 Jamshedpur Parliamentary byelection.
Ms Mahto, the widow of slain JMM MP from Jamshedpur constituency Sunil Mahto, was accompanied by Chief Minister Madhu Koda, Deputy Chief Ministers Sudhir Mahto and Stephen Marandi, Health Minister Bhanu Pratap Sahi, state Congress president Pradip Kumar Balmuchu.
Talking to media persons, Mr Koda claimed UPA candidate Suman Mahto would win by a big margin and predicted a straight contest with the NDA-backed BJP candidate Dinesh Sarangi.
Jharkhand Vikas Morcha(Democratic) president Babulal Marandi was also present during the filing of nomination paper by Jharkhand Front-backed JVM candidate Bikash Mukherjee.
Samajwadi Party candidate Aftab Ahmed Siddiqi, who surrendered before the local court yesterday in a case of assaulting a doctor of the government hospital here last year, also filed nomination paper under the police custody.
Kumar Krishna Murmu of Jharkhand Party (Enos) and other four Independents also filed their papers.
Tomorrow is the last date for filing nominations, official sources said.
