Israeli army kills Palestinian near Gaza border

GAZA, Aug 9 (Reuters) Israeli soldiers killed a Palestinian in the Gaza Strip near its border with Israel, Palestinian medics and the Israeli army said today.

An Israeli army spokeswoman said soldiers had spotted him crawling near the border fence. Suspecting he was planting a bomb, they called on him to stop and shot in the air. When he continued moving, they fired at him, she said.

Palestinian medics brought his body to a hospital in Gaza and said they did not find weapons near his body.
