International recognition for NCAAH

Kochi, Aug 9 (UNI) The National Centre for Aquatic Animal Health (NCAAH) under the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) has been recognised as the regional resource centre in aquatic animal health of the Bangkok-based Network of Aquaculture Centres in Asia Pacific (NACA).

According to an official release here today, NCAAH was the seventh institute in the world to get this rare recognition. The other Centres were located in China (3), Australia, Thailand and Singapore.

The NCAAH, established in 2000, had been working in the sphere of aquatic animal health management by implementing novel environment- friendly technologies such as probiotics, immunostimulants and vaccine in disease management.

It had three aqua clinics in Alappuzha, Thrissur and Kannur to cater to the requirements of aquafarmers in the region.
