Intermittent rains continue to lash south Mumbai
Mumbai, Aug 9 (UNI) Intermittent rains continued to lash parts of South Mumbai while the northern suburbs remained almost dry today.
However, the weather bureau has forecast heavy rainfall with the possibility of spells of rain or thundershowers accompanied by strong gusty winds in other parts of the city and suburbs in the next 24 hours.
Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places over district of Greater Mumbai during the same period.
The total rainfall recorded in the city in the last 24 hours till 0830 hrs this morning was 1.9 mm at Colaba in south Mumbai and 2 mm at Santacruz.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Satara, Kolhapur, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg during the next 48 hours. Similarly, heavy to very heavy rainfall may hit a few places in the districts of Thane, Raigad, Dhule, Nasik, Jalgaon and Ghat areas during the next 24 hours.
Westerly to south westerly winds at a speed of 50-60 kmph temporarily reaching at 80 kmph in gust or squall may turn the sea waves very rough and very high.
The Metrological Department (MET) has issued a 'Port Warning' and local Cautionary signal III (LC III) at ports from Dahanu to Marmagoa on the Maharashtra-Goa coast advising fishermen against venturing into the high seas for the next 24 hours.
