Intel Chief to visit India in September

Bangalore, Aug 9: Intel Chairman Craig Barrett will pay a three-day visit to India from September 03.

An Intel release here yeserday said, Mr Barrett would drive the Intel World Ahead Programme with communities, government, academia and industry in the country.

This would be his ninth visit to the country, Mr Barrett is also the Chairman of United Nations' Global Alliance for Information and Communication Technologies.

Intel plans to invest a billion US dollar globally over the next five years to accelerate access to technology across four areas - accessibility, connectivity, education and content - through the programme.

Commenting on Intel Chief's visit to India, Intel Managing Director (Sales and Marketing) for South Asia Ramamurthy Sivakumar said ''through the Intel World Ahead Programme, we have been working towards accelerating access to technology for citizens in developing countries across the globe.

Over the last year, as a part of this program, Dr Barrett has travelled to over 30 developing countries including India, to witness how people in these countries are benefiting from technology. It gives us great pleasure to welcome him on his ninth visit to India.''
