New Delhi, Aug 9: Terming Indo-US nuclear deal 'against the interest of country,' Janata Dal (United) President Sharad Yadav said Parliamentary approval should be taken for such pacts. Talking to reporters here, Mr Yadav said the 123 agreement binds India with the US strategic and foreign policy and India would lose its identity as a Non-Aligned nation. He said voting on the Iran issue was an indicator of this fact.

Regarding the possibility of both the UPA ally Left parties and the opposition NDA coming together against the government, Mr Yadav said a decision on the issue would be taken only after consultation with the NDA executive.

''This issue does not concern any particular party but the interest of the country as a whole. There should be an approval from both the countries and Parliament on the issue. Parliament should be taken into confidence on such a crucial issue of nation's interest,'' the JD(U) President said.

Regarding the Left Parties demand that the discussion be held on the issue of Nuclear deal under rule 193 which does not entail voting, Mr Yadav said was the general tradition.
