ICAR forms core group to revise post-graduate courses

Hisar, Aug 9 (UNI) The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has constituted a National Core Group (NCG) of experts for restructuring and revision of Masters and Doctoral Courses in agricultural universities.

Haryana Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor Dr J C Katyal told UNI here today that he had recently got an intimation from Deputy Director General (Education) of ICAR, Dr S Prakash Tiwari that he had been appointed the chairman of the core group.

Apart from him as its chairman, the core group would include 11 members, of the rank of Dean and Director in different agricultural universities and National Research Institutes in the country, Dr Katyal said.

The Council has recently revised course curricula and syllabi of undergraduate programmes in agriculture and allied sciences.

Dr Katyal said that as the leader of the NCG, his endeavour would be to accomplish the task soon in view of the fast emerging issues concerning higher agricultural education, particularly the quality and relevance in the context of globalisation of economy.

He said that apart from restructuring course curriculum and syllabi, a uniformity in names of various Masters and PhD disciplines would also be brought in during the process.
