HWS protests entry of corporates in retail sectors

Kolkata, Aug 9 (UNI) The Hawkers' Sangram Samity(HWS) today took out a procession in the city in protest against the corporate sectors entry in retail trade sectors.

''We are observing that the corporate sectors like Walmart, Reliance, Tata, Bharti and Spencers groups are entering into the country's retail trade sectors which will affect several lakhs of hawkers in this sectors,'' HWS leader Debashis Das said.

The government should ban immediately the entry of corporates in the retail sectors otherwise we will organise massive movement in near future, he threatened.

Mr Das said the HWS has taken up several agitational programmes including a sit-in on August 15 at Esplanade area in this regard.
