Hooda asks media to work for welfare of society
Chandigarh, Aug 9 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today exhorted the media persons to perform their duty keeping in view the welfare of the society.
These views were expressed by the Chief Minister while addressing a gathering after launching the Haryana Dinbhar News Channel at Panchkula near here.
Cautioning the print as well as the electronic media, the Chief Minister said that journalists should refrain from reporting vague stories as these had adverse effect on the minds of the people.
Mr Hooda said that there was a competition in the Electronic and Print media to provide the news items without ascertaining the facts and this was the only reason that the people had been misguided.
He said genuine reporting maintained the credibility of the mediapersons.
The Chief Minister said that the press plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the democracy as it was its fourth estate.
He also urged the media persons not to publish advertisement type stories which could harm the interest of the society. Rather they should highlight the problems of the common man, he added.
