HM station commander killed, one surrenders

Doda, Aug 9 (UNI) A hardcore militant and section commander of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) outfit was killed in an encounter with security forces at Palie forest Kounthal in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said here.

Acting on specific information about the presence of Hizbul militants at Palie forest Kounthal, troops of 26 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) launched a search operation and the militant was killed.

The slain militant was identified as Shafi Mohammad alias Shabaaz and the body was handed over to local police, sources said adding, one AK47 rifle, three magazines, 25 rounds and one grenade were recovered from the militant.

Another militant Akhtar Hussain alias Inqlabi later surrendered in front of the troops, sources added.
