Grenade attack on Army convoy, militant gunned down
Guwahati, Aug 9 (UNI) A hardcore ULFA militant was today gunned down by a joint team of police and army after the militants attacked a convoy of 6 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles in Upper Assam's Tinsukia district.
Defence sources said a patrolling team of the 6 J&K Rifles spotted around four to five militants while they were passing through the Bordubi tea estate under Doomdooma police station at around 1230 hours.
The militants opened fire on the patrolling team and lobbed a grenade on the convoy to which the Army personnel retaliated with firing, killing one rebel on the spot.
The others managed to escape, sources said adding that combing operations were on to nab the militants.
