Godavari flood waters rise
Eluru, Aug 9 (UNI) With the water level in River Godavari gradually rising in West Godavari district the low lying causeways were inundated.
The causeways at Kothuru, Kondrukota and Tavvakalva near Ramaiahpeta were under five feet water. Transport to 15 villages had been cut off. The flood waters entered Ramaiahpet, near the controversial Polavaram Project site and Kothuru.
The belt village of Singannapalli, Chegondapalli, Tekuru, Sivagiri and 25 other agency areas had been marooned.
The ITDA project officer Rasheed along with other officials rushed to Polavaram to hold a meeting on the flood situation. The officers arranged mechanised boats at the inundated causeways.
Meanwhile, a report from Polavaram said the flood level was rising five cm every hour at the village. However, households had not been affected by the floods till 1730 hrs.
