Flood-like situation in Godavari and other rivers

Nashik, Aug 9: Due to incessant rains in the catchment areas, a flood like situation has arised in many rivers of the district here today.

The Godvari, Girja, Mausam, Kashyapi and Aaram rivers are flooded.

Water has been released in large quantity from many reservoirs in the district.

According to latest reports, water has been discharged from many dams. From the Darna dam 12,920 cusecs, Gangapur 10,707 cusecs, Nandur-Madhyameshwar 76,080 cusecs, Palkhed 23,625 and Kadwa dam 1,589 cusecs of water has been discharged.

Due to the water discharged, an alert has been sounded to villages on the banks of the Godavari and Darna rivers. However, till now these rivers have not crossed the danger mark.

Meanwhile, three persons at Dahyane village in Kalwan taluka were injured due to a wall collapse yesterday. The injured, Pandit Pawar (36), Reshma Pawar (30) and Nirmala Pawar (12) have been admitted to Kalwan hospital, officials said.
