Dock workers demand release of Iranian labour leaders
Mumbai, Aug 9 (UNI) Hundreds of Dock Workers and Seafarers today jointly staged a demonstration before the Iranian Embassy in the city, demanding immediate relase of Iranian labour leaders Mansour Osanaloo and Mahmoud Salehi from detention.
Adressing the gathering, Veteran labour leader S R Kulkarni said Osanaloo was abducted on July 10 while travelling in a Tehran bus and imprisoned and framed for conspiracy against national security.
He said another labour leader Mahmoud Salehi, founder of Saqez Bakery Association and a renal patient, was being persecuted in prison without proper medicare.
Kulkarni and other leaders present at the demonstration said the International Transport and Dock Workers Federation (ITF) affiliates worldover will not rest till the two labour leaders are released.
A delegation also handed over a protest memorandum to Mr S S Kashani Nejaa, Deputy Consul General, Consulate General of Islamic Republic of Iran here.
