D'Mart to pump 1 mln dlr in manufacturing plant

New Delhi, Aug 9 (UNI) Luxury lifestyle brand D'Mart Exclusif today said it is mulling to set up a manufacturing plant in the country, with an investment of one million dollars.

''The plant will exclusively manufacture 'panchloha', a version of Lord Balaji idols, which we are going to unveil in the next six months,'' said D'Mart Chairman K V Rao.

The company today launched its limited edition of 'Lord Balaji' idols priced at Rs 1,27,000 and Rs 1,22,000.

The idols are manufactured in Italy and come in two variants and are 'lacred' so that the idols don't tarnish, Mr Rao said Made of sterling silver containing 92.5 per cent pure silver and 7.5 per cent other metals like copper, the idols have 345 swarovski crystals embedded in it along with 24K gilded gold ornaments.

The idols come with a two-year guarantee against manufacturing defect and will be available through D'Mart's 14 exclusive showrooms and boutique outlets across the country located in Gurgaon, Bangaluru, Mumbai, Pune, Ludhiana, Amsterdam, New Jersey and San Francisco.

''The idol is available in a limited edition of 5001 and 1001 pieces of the satin black and coloured version. However, the price will be upgraded as per demand. We expect good sales, especially in southern India,'' Mr Rao added.
