Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 9 (UNI) Asserting that his party will oppose the Indo-US nuclear deal both in Parliament and outside, CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat today said the Congress will have to pay political price for the ''surrender of national interest''.

''If the Manmohan Singh Government said there is no going back on the agreement, we would like to say there is no going back on our opposition to the agreement,'' Mr Karat said, while inaugurating the anti-imperialist campaign organised by the Kerala University Union.

Stating that the CPI(M) would not allow the 123 agreement to be ratified in Parliament, Mr Karat said, ''If they go ahead with the agreement along with the US, we will go to the people to mobilise them against the surrender of national interests.'' The CPI(M) would organise protest demonstrations all over the country on September 4 when a joint Indo-US naval exercise was scheduled, he said.
