Consulate General to be set up in China

New Delhi, Aug 9 (UNI) India will set up an office of Consulate General in China besides opening several missions abroad in 2007-08, a move that will help safeguard and promote New Delhi's strategic, economic and political interests in these regions.

Speaking to reporters after the Union Cabinet meeting, Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi said a post of Consulate General of India will be created at Guangzhou in China.

The Cabinet also approved the opening of embassies in Reykjavic, capital of Iceland, Gautemala City in Gautemala, Niamey in the state of Niger and Bamako in Mali, both in Africa.
