BJP demands white paper on land distribution
Vijayawada, Aug 9 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party today demanded the Andhra Pradesh Government to come out with a ''white paper'' on the controversial land distribution issue.
Talking to newsmen here, BJP State General Secretary Somu Veerraju said the government should disclose how many acres of land were distributed to the poor in the last three years, how much land more would be available to acquire, and how many landless people had applied for the land.
He urged the left parties to rethink on their agitation and make sure that the agitation did not create any law and order problems in the state.
The BJP had launched the struggle ten years ago and conducted a survey on available government land for distribution and submitted a stastical report to the then Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, he said.
Mr Veerraju alleged that several irregularities and corruption were taking place in the ongoing 'Jalayagnam' propramme. Even after three years, the project was not completed, he added.
He said the BJP would conduct a district wise conference to create awareness among the people over the formation of separate Andhra state.
