49 check posts to check illegal mining

Lucknow, Aug 9 (UNI) With the objective of preventing illegal movement of minerals in Uttar Pradesh, 49 check posts are to be established, joint director, Geology and mining, UP, Dr Farroqui said. He also said two enforcement squads had been constituted to control illegal mining.

He said during May and June 2007, revenue earnings from mineral sources was Rs 31.51 crore.

He said 31 district quarry offices will be reorganised/established with the purpose of strengthening mining administration.
