36 officials of CAPD held under anti-corruption act
Srinagar, Aug 9: Jammu and Kashmir government has booked 36 officials of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) department under the anti-corruption act and attached their properties.
An embezzlement of Rs 2.44 crore had also been unearthed in the department by the Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Taj Mohi-ud-Din after examining the records and inventories, an official spokesman said.
So far, 36 officials of CAPD had been booked under the anti- corruption act and their properties were attached. Besides this, several others had been prematurely retired from the service for the poor performance, he added.
The officers and functionaries involved had been suspended and the case has been referred to the state Crime Branch for further investigations.
The Minister assumed that the functioning of the department would be made transparent at all levels, adding that no room would be given for corrupt elements.
The government would take every step to weed out corruption and book the culprits nurturing and involved in the menace, he added.
